Reading experience not only gains knowledge through books, but also has various effects as communication experience such as reading and reading. In this exhibition, we focused on the operability of paper books, and proposed a reading experience system using interactive picture books that would not make the experience of the electronic devices available to the users who made use of the characteristics of real books.

Technical Specification

The system configuration consists of a paper picture book that does not contain any electronic circuits and a desk light projector camera system. A projector camera system that integrates a camera and projector above the picture book read by the participants was created. It behaves like a general white desk light and does not feel the presence of the system as part of the living space. From the captured image, the pattern that is the judgment pattern placed on the page and the movement of the hands of the user are detected. In response to the user's operation, the projector projected a video on the picture book, allowing it to experience an expanded picture book world where the act of the user affected the story. In addition to picture books, it can be applied to maps and board games. Utilizing digital technology, we are trying to reconstruct the way that paper books as real objects relate to human communication.
