“8K Time into Space” is a new video representation technology which uses a high-resolution 8K displays to present a movie sequence as an array of hundreds of full-motion thumbnails like a storyboard so that the entire event can be seen clearly at once.8K has capability to present massive information on one screen, but it is difficult to play a lot of video in parallel because of heavy processing load. Therefore, we developed a new video playback architecture that displays frame images sequentially such as in a cartoon film. This architecture also reduces processing load for playback so that all full-motion thumbnails can be played over 15fps with stability that corresponds to human perception, regardless of the content length and division number. Moreover, we developed a touch interface for 8K display. Users can easily watch interesting scene with full screen by touching the storyboard.
8K Time into Space can be executed on a general web browser so that it has general versatility. There is a potential for use in various fields such as video monitoring and media art for digital signage. 8K Time into Space provides new interactive video experience.
