JAPAN CREATIVE CAFE

Futur en Seine is a festival for innovative digital technology, organized by the industry cluster, Cap Digital, which has more than 500 digital technology-related companies in Paris Region. Futur en Seine is being held every two years since 2009. It was conducted at more than 40 locations in the whole Paris Region and 900 thousand people participated in the 2009 event. We will open "Japan Creative Cafe" in "Innovation Village," a keynote project in Futur en Seine which is for advanced digital technology-related participants from around the world.
We will exhibit next-generation content-related services from the businesses that are representative of Japan's content-related industry, including "VOCALOID," a singing voice synthesizing technology used for such virtual idols as "Hatsune Miku" widely supported by young people in Japan, i-phone applications where families can enjoy like a picture-story show by recording the character's voices in the story by each family member, and "BookLive!" an e-book store where the cloud computing technology is utilized A variety of cutting-edge technologies will also be exhibited, such as the world's first display that draws real 3D objects in a space using the laser plasma technology, and a finger tracking technology which makes it possible to deal with digital content interactively even on non-digital materials
On the stage at the Cafe, a dance performance by a humanoid robot will be conducted for the first time outside Japan. The robot did its debut performance last year at Digital Content Expo 2010 in Japan and the dance performance on video-sharing websites captured the world's attention. A dance performance that is realized by the combination of a humanoid robot HRP-4C "Miim," voice synthesizing systems such as "VOCALOID," and SAM, Japan's most renowned dance creator, has enormous appeal as an entertainment content using a robot technology. There will be many other attractive events than those above, including the performing arts "Gemotion Dance" created by one of the most famous CG artist in Japan, Yoichiro Kawaguchi, and presentation by Hideki Kenmochi, the developer of VOCALOID technology, called the Father of Vocaloid.

-A dance performance by a humanoid robot, Cybanetic Human HRP-4C, “Miim,” developed by AIST.

The complicated dancing of the robot has become possible by the most advanced robot action creating technology, Choreonoid, developed by AIST and the human-like singing has been made possible by the combination of three pieces of technology, “Vocaloid,” singing synthesizer technology developed by Yamaha Corporation; “Net VocaListener,” technology of emulating human singing, developed also by Yamaha utilizing an AIST’s system of imitating human singing; and “CV-4Cβ," singing voice data by Crypton Future Media, Inc. The robot did its debut performance last year at Digital Content Expo 2010 in Japan and the dance performance on video-sharing websites captured the world's attention. The dance performance will be actually seen at Futur en Seine 2011 for the first time outside Japan.
