Technical details

Spherical drone display is a new device that can display a high resolution image in all directions from anywhere in 3D space.
The device consists of three main components: a drone to produces thrust for flying, eight LED frames around the drone to create a spherical image and a shell prevents the propellers from hitting things.
During flight, LED frames spin on its axis in a rapid horizontal motion, forming a spherical image by afterimage effect.
Equipping a drone with a large high-resolution display had proved difficult until now due to challenges such as the display interfering with the airflow of the drone's propellers as well as the added weight of the display. However, we achieved it by using a largely hollow display that is exceptionally lightweight and allows air to flow through it and controlling a reaction torque of LED frames.

Exhibition content

In our exhibition booth, we demonstrate world’s first "Spherical drone display" that can display spherical image in flight. The device that consists of a persistence of vision display and a drone creates a high resolution image in all directions from anywhere in 3D space. The highly maneuverable drone can be operated virtually anywhere, including venues such as concert halls or arenas where it can fly around as part of a performance or deliver advertising messages, event information, etc.
