In orthopedic treatment and surgery two-dimensional or three-dimensional still images have been used for reference, however there is a limit to the amount of information that can be observed from these images and it is insufficient for treating some kinds of patients. Thereupon, Prof. Sugamoto's research team in Osaka University Orthopedic Biomaterial Science Laboratory created the technology, ”Registration with CT or MRI” and "2D-3D Registration", to analyze the 3-dimensional movements of the joints. The research team discovered that voluntary movements of living human are different from involuntary movements observed in donor bodies, and so they initiated research on teamLabBody -3D Motion Human Anatomy- in 1998.

teamLab promoted the joint development with the research team based on computer analysis of the models of CT and MRI images of living humans which were taken by the research team over more than 10 years.
